Warren McNeill is a native of Maxton, North Carolina, and was raised in Orange, New Jersey. He received a BA in Political Science from Seton Hall University in South Orange, and is currently enrolled in the Pastor of Arts in Religious Leadership and Administration at New York Theological Seminary.
Warren is a fourth generation Presbyterian. He was ordained as a Ruling Elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Ambler, Pennsylvania. He served the Presbytery of Philadelphia as the Vice President of the Board of Trustees, Investment Committee Chair, Audit Committee Chair, and Mission Budget Committee, and was elected Presbytery Moderator in 2007.
Warren also served the Synod of the Trinity as a Commissioner, and Co-Chair of the Synod Executive Search Committee. Since coming to the Synod of the Northeast, he has served on the By-laws and Standing Rules writing team, and also as a chairperson of the Stated Clerk Search Committee. During the 2016 Synod Assembly, Warren was installed as Moderator of the Synod of the Northeast.
At the General Assembly level, Warren has served as a Council member, as well as a chairperson of the 2013 Racial, Ethnic, and New Immigrant Church Growth Consultation. While on this team, he was the presenter of the Consultation Report, approved by the 2014 General Assembly.
In 2008, the Presbytery of Newark called Warren, a member of Prospect Presbyterian Church in Maplewood, New Jersey, to serve as Stated Clerk, the first Ruling Elder to hold this office.
The Presbytery of New York City also elected Warren as their Stated Clerk, effective January 1st, 2018.
