GRANTS AND LOANS

Grants

Service and Witness Grant Deadlines:
Cycle One: April 24, 2020 (Review Date: May, 5, 2020)
Cycle Two: October 23, 2020 (Review Date: November 3, 2020)

COVID-19 Zoom Grant:
During this time when we cannot meet in person, it is important to find ways to connect virtually.  In order that none of our churches are left out of such an opportunity, the Presbytery is offering to pay for a Zoom subscription, or other comparable service, for a period of 3 months for up to $20.00 per month. Should you wish to take advantage of this opportunity, please email Barbara Smith. At the end of the three months, you should submit your invoices for reimbursement to Liz at [email protected]

Loans

Capital Loan Application: Capital Loans may be given to churches that need to do significant building renovations such as boiler replacement or roof repairs. Loans are only given if churches can demonstrate the ability to repay the loan. The BOT is responsible for reviewing and approving a capital loan.

Temporary Amendment to the Wyoming Church Emergency Capital Loan Fund: A recommendation was made by the Financial Management and Capital Assets Committees to the Vision Accountability Board acting as the Board of Trustees that a temporary amendment be made to the Wyoming Church Emergency Capital Loan Fund to assist Newark Presbytery churches during this COVID-19 crisis.  That amendment was approved on March 26th, 2020, thereby making loan funds immediately available to congregations during this crisis.  The document (linked above) provides not only the rationale, but the details of obtaining and repaying the loan. The loan requests may be sent to Barbara Smith at [email protected].

Scholarships

William Harte Felmeth Theological Scholarship: Youth and Young Adult scholarships at Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church. The scholarship was established for the purpose of encouraging and supporting the theological education of the members of the Presbyterian Church, Basking Ridge. Each applicant must be studying in preparation for church vocation, such as ordained ministry, Christian Educator, church music, commissioned ruling elder, etc.
If there are no candidates from BRPC, as is the case this year, the scholarship is made available to candidates from churches in the Presbyteries of Elizabeth and Newark.

Applications can be found on the church website, www.BRPC.org. Deadline for application is April 30, 2020.
Any questions can be sent to Michelle Ortega, at [email protected].
