Event on March 18, 2010
First come first served. Newark Presbytery Center was given free tickets for anyone who would like to see Joel Osteen live at the Izod Center on March 19th at 7:30 p.m. Please call Presbytery Center at 973-429-2500 if you are interested. If there is no response by Thursday, March 18th, all tickets that are provided will be distributed elsewhere.
I appreciate your using this blog communication tool to posting your concerns. It is an example of how useful and effective our website is.
The Presbytery of Newark is not endorsing this event, or Mr. Osteen, or other events posted as information on this Website. When Newark Presbytery endorses events, it will, and does, specifically indicate such endorsement or sponsorship.
Information thought to be useful or interesting or relevant to our ministry context is important to share.
By the way, the Joel Osteen event tickets were received for distribution from Governor Chris Christie who is sending them to religious organizations throughout the Newark area. People are free to choose and take responsibility to process information, or use or not use tickets. I appreciate the Governor offering what to some people will be a blessing God could use in their lives. Certainly, when Presbyterian witness and mission events rise to a level of interest for the Governor, I believe he would consider promoting opportunities we actually sponsor or services we provide.
Again, thank you for your post.

I hope this will not remain in the website, blog, etc. We should not be endorsing this controversial and to some of us, objectionable speaker. Read his website and affirm that he is appropriate for us to promote.
I think we should return the tickets as well.
Thank you.
